  • Shoot Closure 29 September 2026

After 30-odd years, we are sadly preparing for our final shoots before closure at the end of September.

We have been given notice by the MOD that they are terminating our lease at the end of the year. This has come completely out of the blue, as you can probably imagine.

Under the terms of our lease, we must return the land to the condition it was in when we first took it on many years ago. This includes clearing all spent clays, wads and related material, as well as removing the buildings.

This will take a significant amount of time and effort, so our plan is twofold. Firstly, we will need to close one or two stands so that we can maximise our clearance activities while still keeping the shoot open. Secondly, once the shoot has closed, we will need to remove the buildings, stands and equipment.

Our current plan is to close at the end of September, giving us three months to complete the clearance and demolition work.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of our members, past and present, who have supported the club since the early days of our little lean-to and box body. We are also grateful to everyone who has helped transform the club into the shoot we have today, and to the staff who give up their weekends to make sure the shoot is open and runs smoothly.

It has been a wonderful 30-odd years, and although it is a real shame to bring things to an end with such short notice, it has truly been a “blast”.

  • Shoot Update June 2026

As we approach the middle of the year, a short update for you all. We have been making changes to the layout, to give an interesting mix of targets, and improve the enjoyment of the shoot. We hope you like it.

The lack of attendance and use of the kitchen on Wednesdays has unfortunately meant it is not economically viable to open, so from today the kitchen will not be open on Wednesdays. Sundays will continue as normal .

Previously we said that we would be closed throughout the whole of August, due to camp closure over that period. We have had an update from MOD, re access to the ranges and will now be open on the First and Last Sundays of August , (2nd and 30th August) and every Wednesday through August.

We are also considering opening on 1 or 2 Fridays in a month , with a later close time of 4 or 5pm for the summer months, and would ask if this is of interest to a goes here

  • Update 2026

Firstly thank you to all our members and staff, who have supported us through the last 12 - 18 months.

We would like to especially mention

June , Bob, AJ, Ian , Rowsey, Francis, Olly , Shel and (last man on Sunday) Phil the builder!

Following the massive loss of our founder Steve Maude, in 2024, we have strived to keep the club going in honour of one of the best friend and father anyone could wish to have.

We have had almost every obstacle imaginable thrown in our path, and with the support of members and staff we have not only managed to overcome  them, but also build a foundation for us to continue into 2026 and beyond.

    2026 Membership

As everyone is aware, costs have risen across all sectors of business and leisure activities over the past 2 - 4 years, and obviously we have not been exempt from those cost rises.

We have seen an increase in clay target costs of 15%, waste disposal costs of 20%, escort vehicle driver costs of 50% and a massive  70% increase in the fees payable to the MOD to allow us access when ranges are closed. ( More range closed days meaning more cost for us )

In line with the ethos set by Steve, we are keeping the annual membership fees at the very competitive price of £120 per year but we will have to increase our clay target costs as follows :

    Members -  40p per clay / £40 per 100 target shoot

    Non members - 52p per clay / £52 per 100 target shoot

Membership is now open for joining and renewals

See the membership page for more details
